There are certain simple pleasures in life. Biting into a warm, freshly baked cookie, the smell of new snow, the excitement of ripping open a colorful envelope hand-addressed to you. There's a cheerful card inside, chosen just for you, and a sweet message written out lovingly by your best friend, your long-distance love, or maybe your funny aunt.
That simple pleasure is what brings me here. In a time of Facebook wall birthday posts and quick "Hey, let's hang out sometime" texts, I am desperate to keep the simple letter alive. When is the last time you were excited to check your mail? Doesn't your heart flutter when you see your name written out in curly handwriting among a stack of bills and grocery store fliers?
That's what drives me. I want to be part of that story- of the little heart flutter at the mailbox when someone sees an envelope sent just to make them happy.
I've been asking myself what I'm going to do "when I grow up" for years now. There are so many things I'd love to learn, so much I'm inspired by. It's been difficult to decide what direction to travel, but this fits me. This is what I'm choosing to pursue, and it feels so good.
I've always had a thing for paper. My love is deep and true. I own at least fifteen blank journals. I used to look forward to school supply shopping more than my birthday. I'm like a kid in a candy store at Hobby Lobby. At night I dream of bright glitter and gorgeous stacks of colored cardstock. Scrapbooking and cardmaking have been one of my favorite hobbies for years, and after a lot of encouragement, I've decided to share it with the world.
My creative process right now is a lot of stolen moments during my newborn baby's naps. I often find myself sitting at my desk at three in the morning working on a new card or brainstorming ideas for future projects. I love to just pull out whatever is inspiring me at the moment- a certain set of stamps, a few different colors of cardstock, maybe a bright cupcake liner- and play until I have a finished product I'm happy with. The unplanned, spontaneous cards tend to be my favorite.
I use high quality papers and cardstocks, archival inks, and the best supplies so that the cards I make are not only attractive, they're also well-made and will last for a long time. I like to think a recipient of one of my cards might treasure it, and the words written inside, for many years to come.
My wish is that you find something here that you'll be excited to give to someone you love. Making cards brings me so much joy, and I hope that's reflected in my shop. Thanks for visiting.
xoxo
